We've been having ongoing issues with The Pixel Mancer becoming hyper-focused on his phone. Missing the bus. Taking hours to eat meals. Ignoring chores. Struggling with transitions between activities. After yet another conversation about it, VantaQueen and I started discussing ways technology could help instead of making the problem worse.
That discussion led to the initial concept for Synext.
The idea is simple: a parent-controlled system that helps create structure, routines, and predictable transitions for neurodivergent children without feeling punitive or restrictive. Instead of taking devices away, Synext would help guide attention, interrupt hyper-focus when necessary, and give parents tools to support routines remotely.
This is only a concept right now, but it feels like one of those ideas that solves a real problem instead of creating another one. Time will tell if it becomes a product, but today marks the beginning of Synext.
